Encourage duplicate accounts--rules not working

I installed 2008 easily enough but must have selected an incorrect option for Entourage. I use comcast and have some messages on that server. The new Entourage transferred all existing folders and messages plus created a new main account. That account is receiving new messages plus it has a couple thousand old ones that I guess were still on the server. Any suggestions about how can I get messages to come into the folders previously used and how can I get the rules to apply? Thanks.
