Endote7 included with Word 2003 different?????

Why am I unable to use Endnote. I keep getting the error message "Invalid class string". Do I need to download an original Endnote progam to have all the features? I was going to purchase the program but decided not to since it was included with Word 2003.
Doing research and need to keep track of citations while I search. Perhaps this is not the best program to use?

In what form did you buy a Word 2003 that includes Endnote? I feel as
though I would have heard about that, and it seems odd, since they are
completely different companies. Can you supply a link that explains it?

Do you have an Endnote submenu under the Tools menu in Word?

What exactly do you do to provoke the error message?

Endnote.com does have a trial version you can download to test out.
