Drawings more than 8.5 inches wide almost (but not quite) always get
truncated to 8.5" original width when I Paste Special as WMF or EMF. Pasting
as a MS Drawing Object is fine. I have Word 2003 (11.6568.6568) SP2.
Effect is independent of page orientation or paper size (as long as paper
width is greater than 8.5", of course). Doesn't matter whether the Drawing
Canvas is used or not.
Example:
On Letter size paper in Landscape orientation, make a simple drawing
consisting of a text box or rectangle 6" high x 10" wide. Add more stuff if
you like.
Copy the drawing to the clipboard, then "Paste Special as EMF" into Word
or any other MS Office Application. The picture is truncated on the right.
Moreover, if you select the object and do "Format Picture|Size", the Original
Size is reported as 6x8.5, not 6x10.
Workaround:
Paste the picture into a different App (e.g. Powerpoint 2003) as a MS
Drawing Object. Then copy it again from there and it will "Paste Special as
EMF" properly, even back into Word 2003.
