enormous pst file

Hi all,

Perhaps it is a simple question, but I cannot find a solution. IIn my
Outlook 2003 I keep my e-mails in .pst file. Usually I need the messages,s
tartting the beginning of the current calendar year, so Autoacrhive function
is off, and all the messages before Jan 1 2004 are in the other, archive
folder already.
Still my .pst file takes about 1,5 Gb of disk space! Is there any
opportunity to shrink its size? I tried serving it via Data file management
of Outlook -no result.
Please help as this file seems to slow down my outlook.

Best regards,
Evgen

Use tools, mailbox cleanup to see the size of your folders and search for
large items.

Check the journal folder - are you journaling items and if so, are you
including files or links?

Is deleted items and junk email empty?

Right click on the top of the folder list - choose properties, then advanced
to compact it. if it won;t go any smaller, then you either need to archive
or delete stuff if you want it smaller.
