Entering dates into a table, or parameter query

Is it possible to type in "100104" into a table or query date field and have
it recognize the date as October 01, 2004? If so, please tell me how to do
it since I do not see any input mask that allows such an entry. The only way
I've been able to enter dates is by the month, day but then have to enter
the full year "2004" for it to be recognized. Please help.

try input mask

but you need to consider what date ranges you might be entering before you
use it, such as possible dates of birth. if you enter 010130 through 123199,
you will get year 1930 thru 1999. if you enter 010100 through 123129, you
will get get year 2000 thru 2029. so if you're going to be entering any
dates BEFORE 1930, you need to enter the 4-digit year.
