Entering fractions of hours for time worked

William H

Hi,

It seems like it would be possible with Project Server 2003, or Project
Pro 2003 but I can't seem to find where I could change the units of time
entry from whole (1.0) hours to half-hours (0.5). Does anyone have any
suggestions?

Thanks,

William H

Im not sure what you mean here. I can enter .5 or .25 or 1.5, etc into
just about any Work based field in either Project or Project Web Access.

Can you expand on what you mean?

Brian,

Thanks for your prompt reply. It seemed that all my time reporting was
showing up as a percentage, and I would really like to use fractions of
an hour.

From your message, it sounds like this is possible. I had a strong
suspicion that the problem was with me, not Project Server.

Thanks,

The problem is not with you. It sounds like your company's default method
of tracking progress is set to % Work Complete, when you need it set to
Actuals Hours Worked Per Day or Per Week. You will need to do the following
to rectify this situation:

1. Ask your Project Server administrator to change the default method of
tracking projects within your system to Actual Hours Worked Per Day or Per
Week
2. Ask each of your project managers to open and republish the assignments
in every one of their projects using Collaborate - Publish - Republish
Assignments

Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thanks! That's what I needed. I appreciate the detailed answer.
