entering time for a task

I am new to project, and have a basic question.
Is there a way to enter time for a task as hours and not as a percent
complete.
for example, a task is 16 hrs. and the assigned person does 4 hrsof work on
it. is there a way to enter 4 hrs and not 25 percent?

thanks in advance

Hi,

Yes.
Insert the columns Actual Work and Remaining Work
They allow all combinations, much better than working with %.

If you have more than one resource assigned to the task, you may want
to select Window>Split. The bottom part of the screen then shows the
Task Form. Select the task you want to update, and you can then add
Actual Work for the specific resource. Another way to do this (and a
better way, because you can add the Actual Time on the date it
occurred) is to select the Task Usage view, find the appropriate task,
and add the Actual Work on the correct day for the correct resource on
the calendar on the right half of the screen. If the Actual Work field
is not visible, right click in the calendar and select Actual Work.
