Enterprise Entry Table

S

Steve W.

I would like to add a column (Work) so that every time our project managers
start a new project they will see this Work Column. Should I add the Work
column to the Enterprise Entry Table, modify the Enterprise Gantt View
accordingly, and then move both to the Checked-out Enterprise Global in
Organizer or should I create a new table and gantt view and then move them to
the Enterprise Global.

I have made sure that neither the Gantt Cart View or the Entry Table are
included in the Cecked Out Enterprise Global in Organizer.

Thanks for any advice

Use the following procedure to accomplish your goal:

1. Check out the Enterprise Global file
2. Click View - Table - More Tables
3. Select the Enterprise Entry table and click the Edit button
4. Add the Work column to the table
5. Click OK
6. Click Close
7. Make sure the Enterprise Gantt Chart view is displayed
8. Click Tools - Organizer
9. Delete any non-enterprise Views or Tables from the list on the right
side of the dialog (such as the Gantt Chart view)
10. Click Close
11. Save and close the Enterprise Global file
12. Close and relaunch Microsoft Project Professional

When you apply the Enterprise Gantt Chart view, you will see the new column
in the table. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thank you very much. The Enterprise Gantt now contains the column. Is
there any way I can make the Enterprise Gantt the default view instead of the
Gantt Cart (which does not contain the Work column) when project managers
open new projects? Or should I just train them to always select the
Enterprise Gantt when they create a new project?

Thanks again.

There are several things you can do to address this need:

1. Apply the Enterprise Gantt Chart view in each of your project templates.
This way, whenever anyone creates a new project from an enterprise template,
they will initially see this view in the project.

2. Ask your project managers to launch Microsoft Project Professional and
to log into Project Server. After doing so, ask them to click Tools -
Options - View and to select the Enterprise Gantt Chart as the Default view.
This way, whenever they launch the software, the blank project that appears
initially will display the Enterprise Gantt Chart view.

3. Teach your PM's the necessity of working in the Enterprise Gantt Chart
view as a part of your organization's methodologies for working properly
with Project Server.

Hope these ideas help.
