Enterprise Global pollution in PS 2002

I have read that using Organizer in the Enterprise global you shouldn't see
objects like the Gantt Chart and Entry table, but they should contain things
like the Enterprise Gantt Chart and Enterprise Entry table.

Do those enterprise objects exist in Project Server 2002? I don't see them,
but I do see many other entries that I suspect shouldn't be there, and we are
getting recurring errors asking us to rename views and tables.

Thanks for your insights.

When you open the Enterprise Global for editing in Project Server 2002 or
2003, you should only see enterprise objects, such as the Enterprise Gantt
Chart view and the Enterprise Entry table. You should delete all
non-enterprise Views, such as the Gantt Chart view, and all non-enterprise
Tables, such as the Entry table. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply Dale.
What concerns me is I DON'T see an Enterprise Gantt Chart, at least not by
that name. I also don't see an Enterprise Entry table. I was hoping that
perhaps those were only objects which exist in Project 2003, not Project
2002.

My concern now is that I'm going to delete something that is essential to
opening every project.

Thanks again, Charles

If you don't see either of these enterprise objects, it simply means that
someone has deleted them. To recreate them, do the following:

1. Open the Enterprise Global for editing
2. Click View - Table - More Tables
3. Select the Entry table and click the Copy button
4. Rename the table as Enterprise Entry and click OK
5. Click the Close button
6. Click View - More Views
7. Select the Gantt Chart view and click the Copy button
8. Rename the new view as Enterprise Gantt Chart
9. Set the Table value to the Enterprise Entry table and click OK
10. Click the Apply button
11. Click Tools - Organizer
12. Delete all non-enterprise Views (do not delete the Enterprise Gantt
Chart view)
13. Delete all non-enterprise task and resource Tables (do not delete the
Enterprise Entry table)
14. Click the Close button
15. Save and close the Enterprise Global file

Hope this helps.

That is tremendously helpful, and quite a relief since I couldn't find a word
about how to approach this issue.

Best wishes, Charles

Dale,

I’m relatively new to the field and saw someone a few years ago was having
the same trouble I’m experiencing now.

My question is simply –
Does deleting the only entry in the global organizer view for Resource Sheet
affect my list of resources and their fy cost tables in any way?

If I read the thread below correctly, the only thing that should be in the
“Global (+ non-cached Enterprise)†window on the organizer under…

Views: Enterprise Gantt Chart
Tables: Enterprise Entry Table

My concern, like the individual a few years ago, is that I am going to
delete all the other views and tables and either no longer be able to open
the projects or open the projects to find all the costs have been wiped out
because I no longer have resources loaded. Just a scary thing to delete
things when you don’t have a developmental server area to try out the “what
if†concerns first. I’ve attached the thread below for reference. If you
could provide any insight, I would greatly appreciate it.

Best Regards,
Jon

Jon --

You are correct about the enterprise objects in the Enterprise Global. The
only Tables you should see should be the Enterprise Entry table, plus any
custom enterprise Tables you create. And the only Views you should see are
the Enterprise Gantt Chart, plus any custom enterprise Views you create.
You SHOULD NOT include the Resource Sheet view, or the resource Entry table,
in the Enterprise Global. If this View and Table is actually customized and
is intended for enterprise use, you should rename both of them using a
naming convention such as Enterprise Resource Sheet, etc. Deleting
non-enterprise Views and Tables WILL NOT prevent anyone from opening
projects, etc. Hope this helps.
