Enterprise Project Cost field formula

I have defined an enterprise cost field to be the sum of
several other enterprise cost fields via the formula
function. This works fine. But when I try to do the exact
same thing using enterprise PROJECT cost fields the
formula doesn't work. Does anyone have any idea why?
