Enterprise Reports

David

In another deployment of Project Server 2007 with Sharepoint integration, I
found another report listed under the report menu called "Enterprise
Reports". I have tested installations and looked for additional components
but can find no reference to this report. Is this a custom report that was
added to the left menu (Under Reports - below the default DATA ANAYLSIS)?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Enterprise Reports was used in the EPM2007 Demo VPC (Version 1) and is
used extensively in the EPM2007 Deme VPCV2 and it refers to SRS (SQL
Reporting Services) reports. Microsoft has released a Report Pack as
part of the Project Server 2007 SDK, which you can find here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...f9-7028-4b30-99a2-18cb1eed1abe&displaylang=en.
Instructions on installing the report pack can be found here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb428831.aspx.

When I tested the report pack for a client evaluation, I found that in
this case, the Microsoft supplied installation instructions are very
thorough - to the extent of listing steps that did not have to be
completed because it already was (this was in a clean 2007 install
that was pretty much OOB configuration). It took me about 30 minutes
and I am not very technical.

As to the reports themselves - I found that of the 8 or 9 reports,
only about 4 of them are really useful for most needs. However,
examining all the reports provides some insight into how they are
made.

Hope this helps,

Mark - I installed the SDK and report pack, but I still do not have the
Enterprise Report label below my report section on the left menu, any
thoughts I what I might be doing wrong? Did the SDK add this link to your PWA
or did you have to install the EPM component?

Thanks again,

Hi David,

you will have to create the link manually. Go into Server Settings, Quick
Lauch bar. Select new and enter the URL of your Web part page for reporting
services. You can give this new link a name like "Enterprise Reports".
That should do the trick.
PS: just a little add on from me. You may want to investigate the Report
Builder, which allows you to generate reports based on the reporting DB.
These are not complicated reports, but I found that 80% of the report
requirements can be covered with the Report builder
Have fun building reports ;)
