Enterprise Resource Fields

John

I have a handful of enterprise resources assigned to tasks on a project. I
have no problems with the performance and functionality up to that point.
However, now I want to add fields that are local to this project only, but
that store data about a resource (hence, the data that I want to store about
the resource is not going to be stored globally about all enterprise
resources). The problem I am having is this: if I create a new local field
in my resource view, then edit the field for my first resource, I get a
message telling me that my changes to the enterprise resource will be lost.
I don't want to modify the data on a global scale, but don't know how to add
data at the individual project level about enterprise resources.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

To store local information about specific resources in a project, I believe
you would need to do one of the following:

1. Use local resources (rather than enterprise resources) with the local
resource fields you set up, or...
2. Since you are using enterprise resources, you would need to set up
enterprise resource fields instead

Perhaps the others would have a different idea on how to approach this.
Hope this helps.

To do the second item you've mentioned requires editing the Global Resource
Pool. I didn't want to update the resource on a global level. Instead, I
wanted to update information about this enterprise resource for this project
only.

I believe your choices are limited to the two options I stated in my
original post. If I am wrong about this, I would kindly ask one of the
others to correct me, or to give you an alternate approach to solving your
problem.
