Enterprise Resource Pool

Hi,

I'm using Project Server 2003 and have a problem in my enterprise resource
pool which has just occurred after many months of trouble free operation.
I've added a new enterprise resource and filled out the custom fields as
normal. The Resource pool then saves without any error messages. The next
time the pool is opened and a save is attempted this recently added user
returns an error. On closer examination it is apprant that all the detials
in the custom fields are now blank. I can repopulate them and save again but
next time I open the pool the fields are blank. Can anyone offer any
suggestions?

Reid,

I get the "invalid custom field entry" message associated with the fact that
the (compulsory) custom fields are not populated.

Are you running SP1? Do you see errors in the Server Application Event Log?

Hi Gary,

Unfortunately my Infrastructure Specialist is out on Paternity leave right
now (I'm the Programme Office Manager) So I'm not entirely sure on the
service pack question. The version on our system is 11.0.6707.0 which I
think indicates we do not have SP1 is that correct? As for the Server
Application Event Logs there are no errors.

I'm concerned about the lack of service pack. However, this could also be a
permissions issue. Has anyone fiddled with groups or categories lately?

Definately no group or category changes but we are in the proces ofmovin mail
servers and currently have some users on the old one and some on the new,
could this be the issue? I'll pursue the service pack issue ASAP.

Gary,

Further develolment is that when I now try to add a further new resource
(resource B) I get the same error about my original new resource (resource
A), now when I complete the custom fields on Resource A as previously
reported and save the resource pool, the next time I open the pool resource A
is fine but the error has now appeared in Resource B (are you following?)
I.E. it is the last added resource that displays this strange behaviour.
Does this add any light?

Martin:

It kind of leads me to think that there may be some index issues or other
data-table related cause. Perhaps some preventive maintenance on the
database such as rebuilding the indexes might help. Otherwise, the symptoms
aren't registering as ones I've heard before as much as the nature of it
suggests a database cause.
