Enterprise Resources

We have several people defined as project managers on PWS 2003...they need to
manage projects as well as be assigned to other projects. The issue that we
are having is that the project managers cannot be seen as enterprise
resources or added as enterprise resources as they are seen as being a
duplicate even though we cannot see them in the list. Also, can
administrators of the PWS also be assigned to tasks in projects?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

To be assigned to tasks they should be a member of the team members security
group.

It sounds like your Project Server administrator added the PM's as users in
PWA before he/she added them as resources in the Enterprise Resource Pool,
which is incorrect. To resolve this problem, the Project Server
administrator should do the following.

1. Launch Project Professional 2003 and log into Project Server.
2. In the blank project, click View - Resource Sheet.
3. Add the names of each PM to this blank project.
4. Double- click the name of each PM and enter his/her Windows User
Account.
5. Save the blank project as an .mpp file (DO NOT save it in the Project
Server database) with a name like "Resources to Import.mpp" or something
like that.
6. Close the project containing the reosurces.
7. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Resources to Enterprise.
8. Complete the steps in the Import Resources wizard.
9. If prompted to convert the resource to an enterprise resource, click the
Yes button.

Hope this helps.

To answer your second question, "Also, can administrators of the PWA also be
assigned to tasks in projects?"

It depends on whether you have made the administrator an enterprise resource
or not? You can create accounts directly in PWA>Admin>Manage Users without
making them enterprise resources in which case they will not be assignable
to projects. However, if you create them from the checked-out enterprise
resource pool, they will be assignable.
