Entourage 2004 and Exchange Server Question

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I have the Student version of Office and I use Entourage with an Exchange account. I use VPN to connect and then Entourage synchronizes with the server. That all works fine. But when it has finishes synchronizing and all the emails are in my inbox (which takes about an hour each time with 1000 or so emails) it starts all over again!!! It always starts again with synchronizing all emails, which takes another hour again... Of course I can't work like this. Now I downloaded the trial version of Entourage 2008 and it works perfectly!!! I specified "Student User" before downloading the trial, but now I am confused because I am reading that the student version of Entourage 2008 won't support Exchange server?

Has anyone here a solution for my Enoturage 2004 problem or could anyone tell me if my system (VPN + Exchange) would work with the Student verison of Entourage 2008, like it did in the trial?

Thank you very much!

Is Entourage 2004 perfectly up to date on your Mac??

That's indeed the case. I suspect to many corporate users were buying
the Student edition because it was cheaper and they cut off Exchange
from the Family edition.
With Office 2008 you'd need a full version of Entourage.

Thank, Corentin! I have run all the auto-updates for Office, so I think it should be up-to-date.

I understand the problem with corporate users exploiting the Student Edition. However, many schools use exchange servers for the student email, so it's really us that this is hurting...

Oooops, Corentin, you were right! Entourage 2004 wasn't up to date. I just thought that I had enabled auto Update, but no update was ever installed after my recent re-install of Mac OS... when I read your comment I checked the updates, "just in case"... It's working now with 2004, yeah! Thanks so much, I can't believe I almost bought a new version of office. Thanks again!

I know :-\
Some Universities let students have access to the full version of Office
though,

I'm glad it's working for you now :)
