Entourage 2004 and Palm Tungsten T3

I have two (2) clients with Palm Tungsten T3 handhelds. Each is running
MacOS 10.3.5 and Entourage 2004. Neither client is able to synch their T3
with Entourage. The Handheld Synch Installer from Office 2004 was installed
on each computer. There were no older Entourage conduits on either machine.
Synchronization has been enabled for these ³newer² devices in the Entourage
Conduit via the Palm 4.2.1 desktop software on each computer. I¹ve read
other posts on this issue, but nothing seems to work.

Each user receives the following message in their Palm log file:

"Before you can synchronize with the applications on this handheld device,
you must enable synchronization in the Entourage Conduit Settings dialog
box. For the latest information on compatibility issues and solutions, visit
the Office 2004 Web Site synchronization failed Entourage Conduit
synchronization failed ³Entourage Conduit² failed (error = #-1)."

Suggestions?

To avoid accidental data loss, synchronization between Entourage 2004 and
palmOne's new handhelds is turned off by default. Follow this procedure to
turn on synchronization after both Palm synchronization software and the
Microsoft Handheld Synchronization software have been installed:
1. Launch the HotSync Manager application (usually located in
/Applications/Palm)
2. Under the HotSync menu, choose Conduit Settings.
3. Double-click the "Entourage Conduit" entry.
4. Near the bottom, check the option to "Enable synchronization with these
new handhelds."
5. Click OK.

The handhelds that are affected by this issue are the ones that have
"Organizer Plus," including Zire 31, Zire 72, Tungsten E, and Tungsten T3.

I did that on both devices ("Synchronization has been enabled for these
³newer² devices in the Entourage Conduit via the Palm 4.2.1 desktop software
on each computer.") per my original post.

Hal,

sorry you're having such rotten luck - I had the same problem
initially. Currently I'm running x10.3.5, office 2004, and am able to
sync my T3 over bluetooth to entourage without any problem. I don't
even use the palm desktop or iCal. I"m not sure how you've set
things up, but here's mine.

I've enabled (under hotsync preferences) bluetooth and perform the
sync over bluetooth (It should work over usb as well).

I've also set up a connection on the palm under prefs, network,
Create New, connect to PC via Bluetooth (set max speed). Enable
bluetooth on your Mac and "discover it" from the palm - then pair the
devices. Then enable bluetooth sync under hotsync options.

Then go to Hotsync Manager, and under HotSync Conduit Settings, select
Entourage Conduit. I seem to remember that I had to download some NEW
conduits from Microsoft or enable an option for "new palm devices"
somewhere in the synchronization setup (but I think that was for
iSync, which I do NOT use). also I think I needed to turn OFF the
iSync conduit for things to work right.

that's really about it. My palm is dying so I have to re-sync it
occasionally, and I just did it while typing this, so I can confirm
that it works. Hope this helps.
