Entourage 2004, Sync Address Book.. NOW?

Hi folks, I was looking at my address book and realized that it had not been
auto updated by Entourage in a while, so I checked prefs and found that
syncing had been turned off. I guess with the latest updates to Office for
2004?

Anyway, I turned on Address Book syncing and was wondering when and how it
will take place. I see no command to force it to sync now. I then figured
I'd force a Sync to dot Mac and when I did, I got the warning that 1700
contacts would be added to my Address Book... All apparently duplicates of
my existing database. What I was hoping was that Entourage would update
directly to address book, but perhaps that isn't the way it works?

I'm confused. I used to use sync now Applescripts to update my address
book. Perhaps I need to go back to that?

From my experience the process starts almost immediately.

If you're confident that Entourage has the most current database, choose the
appropriate option in the subsequent Synchronization Options dialog to
Delete Information from .Mac (and replace it with Entourage).

You sometimes need to open the application "iSync.app" and

in "Preferences" you'll find "Reset Sync History."

You'll probably want to overwrite AddressBook with Entourage when you get the pop up window later.

If you end up with a bunch of duplicates (which you should not) you should be able to wipe you your Address book data base and start over:
~/library/Application Support/AddressBook/AddressBook.data
