Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

Got a real problem with an entourage client that I can't seem to fix. This has been present for months now and re-installs / patches not fixed it.

New imac (4 months old), Entourage 2008 latest patch. 10.5 latest patch. I have run a clean install, run a combined updater recently, removed all entourage prefs, emptied cache etc on account, setup new account, removed entourage and reinstalled clean from scratch etc.

It crashes all the time (well several times a day)and not sure where to look.

Here are some crash log entries that somebody may have an idea about. This one at the end does mention HP printer (which I saw a post about) but normally does not.

Also Get a lot of this from the console log.

PLEASE let me know what info I should be looking for and where from and I will gladly submit it and report on results.

It crashes all the time (well several times a day)and not sure where to look.

It looks like Firefox might be part of the problem. Debugger is also
mentioned a lot. If this is a part of Firefox, disable it. Most of the
errors seem to involve something other than Entourage.

I also saw error 1069 mentioned. This involves logging onto your Exchange
server. Here are several options to check.

<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271920>

Go to Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Services. Right-click the
Service Name and select Properties. Click the Log On tab. Retype the correct
password. Start the the service.

Microsoft KB: Article ID: 282254

<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q282254>

The Exchange MTA (Message Transfer Agent) service on a Windows 2000 server
node in a cluster repeatedly logs event 1069, indicating that the MTA
service has experienced a timeout.

This problem will occur if your antivirus program blocks the MTA service,
causing a false timeout, and preventing the SCM (Service Control Manager)
messages from being sent.

If you can't get a fix from your antivirus vendor, the only workaround is to
uninstall the antivirus.

If the above does not help....

If you Log Out of your User's folder, then Log In holding down the Shift key
this will disable all startup items. Try running Entourage without other
applications running and see if the problems go away. Add back one
application at a time from your Login Items to see what is causing the
conflict.

Yes ther Firefox is new since I updated both it and the OS. The one that appears a lot and I ahve had a while is below and I haven't found an answer with a thousand google searches :)

Will look to update Flash etc and try and get Firefox to stop creating problems, also to get the user not to use it for a few days.

Sometimes where there are problems that are not fixed by running the combo,
an "Archive & Install" is the best option.
"Archive and Install" moves existing system files to a folder named
Previous System and then installs Mac OS X again.

Just be sure to check Preserve Users and Network Settings when you select
Archive & Install.
