Entourage 2008 - Exchange 2003 (on Win2k3 standard) HTTP error -18600

Previously I tried to use Entourage on one of my users Imac systems,
and as I posted here previously, it would send email through the
exchange account a few times, but then would give the http error
-18600, the send button would be greyed out and the error message
stated that it sent the message to the drafts folder, which it did.

I tried using the directory utility, adding AD, was able to
successfully query the GC, before and after the problem would raise
itself.

I tried the fix of making sure that the user had only his default smtp
address in his exchange properties, making sure even case was the same
on AD, that did not fix it.

I used both the "regular" authentication and the kerberos realm,
neither fixed it.

I have exhaustively researched on the net for this problem number to
no avail. My user got so sick of the unreliability of Entourage that
we put him back on the Apple Mail product, hooked up his exchange
account through IMAP and it has worked great.

I just can't seem to put this issue to rest though in my head, as when
I get an issue like this, I really really like to do root cause
analysis as it is how I learn, regardless if the user will go back to
using Entourage or not.

Entourage 2008 - 12.1.2 Mac OS X 10.5.5 - Apple Imac - 4GB Ram -
Networked via wireless Airport, but have tried using the ethernet port
on the box too.

Exchange 2003 sp2 - Installed on a domain controller which is a GC
also.

Is there a good document that details how Entourage access the
exchange mailbox store? I don't have good proof yet, but something in
my gut is telling me that this is a virtual server issue, again, just
a gut feeling.

So any and all comments are welcome, if you got this far, thanks for
taking the time to read this.
