Entourage 2008 problem with attachments

Have had installed for a week or so. (from Office 2004)
Having trouble not being able to open attachments. Sent from another
newly installed Entourage 2008.
File encoding from sender same as before (appledouble no compression)

Get error "an unknown error has occurred in Entourage" (could they make
it any easier to troubleshoot? LOL)

Can you drag and drop the attachment to the desktop and open it from there??

No, it will not allow itself to be removed in any fashion. The weird
thing is that this seems to happen only when an item to be attached is
dragged into the attachment box rather than selected by adding.

That sounds like a loginwindow crash on your Mac. Can you drag and drop
text clippings to the desktop?
Have you tried rebooting the Mac?

Sorry for the late reply - yes, I have. This was the first thing I did
to try and troubleshoot the problem.
