Entourage 2008 - Syncing Address Book with Apple Address Book?

J

I don't get it. I've tried to sync Entourage's address book with my Apple
Address book, but each time I do, I wind up with hundreds of duplicates in
Entourage and Address Book they appear to be exact duplicates except for
their categories.
This situation is creating nightmare for simplicity and coordination.

Anyone have any advice, suggestions, or counsel? Such a pain and all I
want is a unified address book...

Are you selecting to combine or overwrite?

Until you clean up your data stored in the truth (a special database
that stores sync information on a Mac), you will continuously sync bad
data and duplicates over and over.

For this cleanup process, I recommend these steps;

Turn Off Sync Services for all your apps
Clean up duplicates in the one source that will be your primary source
Follow the steps listed here: http://bit.ly/bb6KhE

Note: Always backup before deleting data!

Thanks Diane,
I am using "sync contacts with Address book" I don't see a choice under
sync services between combine and overwrite.

I had cleaned up my Address Book and Entourage AB separately, so I expected
them to function together. I wish Entourage would just use the Address Book
instead of its own...

The sync truth db is what you clean when you overwrite all data on a new
sync upload to mobile me?
I now know the reason I stopped syncing Entourage and AB.

Entourage sync is very flaky. Its best to sync with only one module
installed. i've gone for months now without one sync error.

In terms of what Diane is referrig to as overr write when you first
turn on sync it asks if you want to overwrite or combine. For first
sync, choose overwrite. however, after that turn off sync then turn it
on and choose combine.

You might also be best to reset sync services. Go to apple.com/support
and find article ts1627. Just follow that to a tee. The do the above
with Entourage.

What do you mean by one module?

Thanks

What do you mean by one module?

Sync to Address Book as one module and/or Calendar as second module.
Don't select both at the same time for best results.

Jeff, Ent is made up of 3 modues:

Cal and tasks
Notes
Addressbook

Only enable one module for sync at any one time otherwise you will end
up with a sync mess. in my case I leave Cal and Tasks turned on at all
times. If I need to sync the Contacts I just switch modules ensuring
they do not sync together. If they do you will get very strange
results and I mean really strange.
