When I open a new message to compose, the address book window appears when I
want to start entering addresses. However, although there are addresses in the
book - they appear when I start typing - they don't show up in the address
list on the right. aren't they supposed to be there for easy insertion?

Most Recently Used:
Entourage's Address AutoComplete feature gathers addresses from both the
address book and the recently-used list (with a maximum of 200 entries).
They are sorted intelligently, organized by the frequency of messaging for
each contact, with the most-used contacts showing up on top.

If you are not seeing the contact listed in the mini Address Book even
though they are in the Address Book, it's because it is not in the top 200.
If you continue to type, it will find the entry in the Address Book.

If you click on the icon to the right of "Check Names" You can turn off the
view. The auto enter still works.
