Entourage, after update, crashes on launch (every time)

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange I searched but could not find this particular problem. Apologies if it's redundant.

Please help!

Entourage won't successfully launch. I get the splash screen, the welcoming sound, the screen title bar (only), then a crash, with a crash dialogue.

I got to this point because Entourage inexplicably wouldn't connect to my exchange server today. It was fine this morning, then later in the morning it wouldn't connect.

After trying a few things I checked for updates. One was available. I updated, and after that, Entourage has never launched successfully.

I am not sure of the update version. I think I was running 12.5, but I can't be sure.

I did a file system permissions repair and an MS database verification, but this didn't fix the problem.

I then tried downloading and installing various updates, like 12.2.0, 12.2.1, but it would allow me complete, saying "a version of the software required to install this update was not found on this computer."

It's a Macbook Pro4,1, OS X 10.6.1

Here's the crash report:

I'd really appreciate some help here! I am limping long day to day, and can't figure out how to access an folders that were stored on m computer without Entourage running. I also can't install the Office 200 trial, since the installer finds a newer version on my machine.

Please help!

Thanks,

jv

I see several problems.

1) Follow these steps to re-install Office:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/install/reinstall_steps.html>

2) You will also need to Manually remove these files:

A) Remove all office2008...pkg receipts in /Library/Receipts

B) Also check this location for com.microsoft....plist files:

In the Finder toolbar under Go, paste in this path:
/private/var/db/receipts

3) Fonts to delete after installing Snow Leopard (includes help deleting
font caches)

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/remove_fonts_snowleopard.html>

4) You might need to re-install Snow Leopard. It will install like a combo
updater. Insert your Snow Leopard DVD and install. Then update to 10.6.2
using the Apple combo updater.

Hope this helps!
