Entourage database recovery - Folders important

Hi all
I’m looking for some help or hints on recovering someone’s Entourage
database, but specifically I need to be able to identify the contents
of a particular folder.

The database was 2.3GB when it corrupted prompting him to Rebuild.
After a rebuild the database was 1.91GB and missing a significant
amount of emails from a particular folder he’d been working in.

I ran the original 2.2GB database through Entouraid and recovered what
seems to be the entire database as an “mbox file” which I have
imported into Entourage.

What I’m trying to work out is how can I possibly identify which of
these emails was in the particular folder that he needs.

Has anyone ever successfully recovered folder information from a
damaged Entourage database? Could it be coded somewhere in the file? I
tried opening with text edit or BBedit because apparently the file is
too large.

Any clues, hints, or suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

Revert to the original Identity (Entourage made a copy when it did the
rebuild). You can drag that folder to the desktop. There is no way to get
into the database to recover.

Hi Diane, thanks that's what i did. It's the original database i need
to get the emails out of. The recovered database does not contain any
of the emails that he needs.

Don't use entouraid, try dragging the folder or try dragging the individual
files.

But I can't open it! Entourage won't let me open it at all.

It's possible you can rebuild IF you use a really large drive. See this
article: ( even though it's specific for Entourage X it applies to any
rebuild.)

Rebuilding a damaged database that exceeded size limit

In case the above link does not work:

If that doesn't work, then the data is lost. Sorry.

If you don't have the hardware to do this, I provide this service as part of
my consultant business.
