Entourage deletes emails, contacts on server

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange Entourage is removing all emails and contacts from server.

When emails are restored from deleted folder at exchange server, download is slow and includes activity at lower right corner includes file subject rather than "downloading inbox". Again though, it deletes more than it downloads

Using 3rd party exchange server.

Worked with microsoft, changed identities. Second time with microsoft removed all traces of Office. Again same problem.

Exchange server support said it is an entourage problem, but they could not solve either.

I am desperate for help.

This sounds like you have set up your account as POP and not Exchange.
If you go into Tools --> Accounts... and view the name of your account,
does it have "(Exchange)" appended to the end or "(POP)"?

Thanks for the comment. It has exchange. Even the exchange server provider Mailstreet went over the set up.

Still a big problem. Looking at my inbox on my iPhone, I see hundreds of subfolders labeled after email Subject text. Open those folders and they are empty.
The subject text is from real emails.

I am a one man business and need email on Monday. Who can I turn to for help?

Are you saying that your mail messages are appearing as folders? Do they
have .eml appended to the end? This is a known problem with no known
easy fix other than to start a new identity.

I see you've started a new identity and that this doesn't seem to work
for you. Did you specifically select Entourage menu --> Switch
Identity... and create the new identity there? Or did you simply delete
the Exchange account in your current identity and set up your Exchange
account again? You need to definitely use the Switch Identity... command.

If that doesn't work (do try at least one more time) then the problem is
with your mailbox on your hosted Exchange server. Ask your service
provider to create a new mailbox for you and copy your old messages into
your new mailbox for you.

Finally, be sure to keep Entourage updated to the latest version using
the Help --> Check for Updates feature. If a fix is provided by
Microsoft then it will come in an update.

Hope this helps!

In addition check to see if your host has Exchange Server 2007 with these
specific updates. If yes, then update (it's free for Entourage 2008 users)
to 13.0.3.

Microsoft Exchange Server: Connectivity to Update Rollup 4 for Microsoft
Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (KB952580) or later version.

Update Rollup 4 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (KB952580)
must be applied to both the Mailbox server and the Client Access server
roles.
