Entourage error message: The action could not be completed. Mail e

I have Entourage X for Mac version 10.1.6. I know it's pretty ancient and
it's propbably on its last legs. When I start Entourage the window appears
with my emails, then I get the above error message. I can open emails I have
already received, but I can't write new emails or send and receive. Any
suggestions?
