Entourage freezes, database is

After installing SP2 and using it for a week, Entourage has froze up (spinning rainbow wheel), with the progress bar 'pending outgoing email'. I've rebuilt the database, still freezes. Completely removed Office and all prefs, reinstalled, re-applied SP2 - still freezes. I've had to remove all prefs, add the user again (Exchange account), but original database with local email folders, notes, projects, etc., is not unaccessable. No error is given in Console log when Entourage freezes, so I can't even troubleshoot it. Two machines with similar issue - one will bring up Main Window then freeze, the other just crashes on opening. Ton's of data is now lost - any ideas?

When you launch Entourage, hold down the Shift key. This disable any
schedules from trying to send a bad message. Select Work Off line. Open the
Outbox and copy the contents of the email, delete the email, then paste into
a new message.
