Email Client: pop

Hello,

I am using Entourage 2008. Ever since I have installed Snow Leopard, I cannot open certain .pdfs as attachments in Entourage or open them from my desktop (Preview crashes). These were .pdfs that i was able to open before and had no issues with. This does not happen with all .pdfs, but seems to be .pdfs from one particular customer. Unfortunately, it is a large customer and they are getting frustrated that I cannot open these documents. Other, Windows users have no problem with the documents.

The .pdfs can also not be opened in Adobe Acrobat. What would have changed with Snow Leopard and its interaction with Entourage/Preview?

Best,
Allan

That sounds like a bad font issue.
Try clearing up the font cache through an application like Onyx.
Use the Font Book too to check for font conflicts, corruptions and
duplications.

If that doesn't fix it, make sure that you do not have "Partially download
...." set in the Option tab of the preferences for the affected email
account. If the attachment is not fully downloaded, you won't be able to
open it.

Unfortunately, neither of these solutions worked. Have installed Onyx and cleaned out fonts and the option mentioned above was not checked.

Preview is still also having problems and Adobe Acrobat can also not open these files. Still able to open many other .pdfs. Very strange, but not helping me with my client at all as I can't open the attachments (though Windows users here in the office can).

Thank you for any ideas.

hi - have you found any solution yet? I'm having the same problem
since installing Snow Leapord. When I try to attach some PDF's to an
email in Entourage, Entourage crashes. When I try to attach the same
PDF to an email in Gmail, Firefox crashes!

Hello,

No solution as of yet. I did find out that the problematic .pdfs were created in Adobe Printer 8.0, but I am not sure why I would have problems with this after Snow Leopard and not before. I still can't open them with any Mac programs (can open them easily on my Parallels PC with Adobe Reader).

I too am having this problem. Sees like pdf's created by pasting a new document into prieview or one created by selecting printing pdf.
Very frustrating!

Use the Font Book to validate your fonts. If you are using Snow Leopard, be
sure to delete the older Microsoft fonts that were replaced by the newer
version Snow Leopard installed.
