Entourage Import from MAC OSX mail

M

Mark Steele

I just loaded Office 2004 and was surprised to find the importing of mail
from Apple Mail does not work properly (messages are not imported). I did
some research and found this is a known bug
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842883)

Unfortunately this article was written in June 2004 - any ideas how to work
around this?

I have also found references to running an import script from the 'Value
Pack' folder on the CD - my cd does not seem to have such a folder.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Mark,
you'll need to include a few crucial details: what kind of email account do
you use? The article you're referring to describes Exchange accounts - is
that what you're using? Also, what version of Mac OS X are you using?

And a couple of comments:
It is normal that you can't find a Value Pack folder on your CD, that was
for Office v.X only. Entourage 2004 includes the "import from Mail" option
as part of its Import function. Also, you posted this message in
microsoft.public.office.mac.entourage; that newsgroup is no longer active,
you'll have to post in microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage (just for
future references). And finally, I'd suggest you google the Entourage
newsgroup first, because there has been an ongoing debate about that
problem. Simply click on the following link:
g>
and search for "import from Mail", or anything along these lines. If you
don't find what you're looking for, post back.

Thanks Michael - I will switch groups and do the search.

For reference:

- Email account type is POP
- OS: MAC OSX 10.4.3
- used the import from Mail - no working as previously described.

Thanks again!
