I am running Entourage 2004 in Mac OS 10.5. I have selected Entourage as the default email reader in Mail preferences. When I print a web page and want to send as a pdf attachment or elect to send document as a attachment, Mail pops open with the attachment in a new email page. This is despite Entourage being open. My goal is to have Entourage be the only mail client that is accessed on the computer without having to delete Mail.

When I print a web page and want to send as a pdf attachment or elect to send
document as a attachment, Mail pops open with the attachment in a new email
page. This is despite Entourage being open. My goal is to have Entourage be
the only mail client that is accessed on the computer without having to delete
Mail.

Are you trying to send from Safari? When you "elect to send Document" what
application are you in?

You can drag any attachment to an open Entourage message or drag to the
Entourage icon in the Dock to open a new message with file attached.

Personally, I don't send web pages, I send links using a script to insert
the URL into Entourage.

You should start with #1 in the AppleScript series to learn how AppleScripts
work and how to assign shortcuts.

I'm using Firefox as my default browser. I'm in Firefox when I initiate print and then access the drop down box on the bottom left and choose 'Mail pdf'.

I appreciate the two links. I'll look at them.

I'm using Firefox as my default browser. I'm in Firefox when I initiate print
and then access the drop down box on the bottom left and choose 'Mail pdf'.

In FF preferences, select Applications. Make sure Entourage is selected as
default for Mailto. However, I believe the Print functions will default to
Mail. I see save to other applications but they added that function.
Entourage doesn't have that feature. You'll need to save to PDF and save to
your desktop or other folder. Then drag it to Entourage.

Send feedback to Microsoft if you would like to see this option added.

When working in Office, you can use the ³Send Feedback² option under the
Help menu in all of the Office applications or visit

<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/suggestions.mspx>

Again, please consider sending a link rather than a file. It saves on
bandwidth as well as space on the recipient's computer.

When you hit the PDF button in the Print menu and select the Mail PDF
option, an Automator workflow is run, and this action relies on Mail. There
is an option to use Entourage, however, and to get it, you'll need to create
an alias of Entourage (ctrl-click Entourage in the Finder and select "Make
Alias"). You might want to rename that alias, but that's optional; then drag
that alias into the folder called PDF Services, located in Macintosh
HD>Library. You should now be able to send your PDF file as an Entourage
attachment through the PDF button; just make sure to select Entourage from
that menu, as the Mail PDF entry still launches Mail.

Also, if you happen to be using Office 2008 Standard or Special Media
Edition, you can simply create an Automator workflow involving Entourage,
save it in the same folder as mentioned above, and the result will be the
same.
