Hi,

There seems to be a problem with my Entourage when other people send me emails with .msg attachments. I am not able to receive the email at all in Entourage, but I am able to see the email if I use a Windows machine with Outlook. Is there a setting that I can adjust to have Entourage download emails with .msg attachments? Thanks.

Are you saying you don't even see the message at all, or just the
attachment?

Yes I am not even able to see the message at all in Entourage, but it does show up on my Outlook account and OWA. Thanks.

You may just need to empty your cache and re-sync your Inbox.

If you see this in just one or a handful of folders then right-click or
Control-click that folder, select Folder Properties and click the Empty
button to empty the cache. You can also select the account itself and
empty the cache for all of your folders.

Hope this helps!

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the advice, but after I empty the cache in Entourage it tries to resync itself and all my 'Sent Items' and 'Drafts' would restore themselves, but my Inbox remains empty until I close out of Entourage and restart it. Afterwards I would get back my emails but still not the emails with the attached .msg files.

Which application is actually sending you these .msg attachments?
Neither Outlook nor Entourage use the .msg filename extension.

Hi Bill,

Outlook is sending me the .msg attachments. If you save a message from Outlook it sometimes save it as a "outlook message format" if the user does not choose it to be saved as a .html file.

I've dragged a message from Outlook 2007 onto my desktop and then
attached that to a new message to a different account. In Entourage 2008
I see an attachment and I see the message inline with the body.

If you view the source of the message in Entourage (Message --> Source)
then do you see any part of the attachment's contents?

If I attached a message file from Outlook, I don't even receive the email in Entourage. Any clue why this is happening? Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I was misunderstanding your problem. I was thinking you were
receiving the message, just not the attachment.

Do you keep a completely empty Inbox or do you allow messages there to
remain a while? I wonder if you have a message that is thwarting
Entourage somehow.

Can you move all Inbox messages to a different folder outside the Inbox
for a while and continue testing?

Have you also tested in a new Entourage identity (Entourage menu -->
Switch Identity...)?

This problem is happening to any of our users that uses Entourage. Does Entourage has a specify email filter that filters out the messages with .msg attachments? Thanks.
