Entourage Sound Sets-No Sound

P

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Email Client: Exchange The strangest thing has happened to me. In Entourage (for the first few months that I had it), all of the sounds worked.

Now, the sounds don't work at all...so I went under my Microsoft User Data folder (under Sound Sets) and there was nothing there (no file).

What happened because I surely didn't do anything to delete the sounds?

How can I fix this or download new sounds sets?

Help...thanks!

I just checked and have no sound sets either, but my sounds are working. I'm
checking on what happened.

Thanks in advance.

I believe this folder may only be for user-added sound sets. The one set
that comes with Entourage is built-in.

The first place to check for sound issues would be Apple menu --> System
Preferences... --> Sound. Note that you have a slider for Output volume
as well as a slider for Alert volume. While there, make sure your
Outgoing audio is playing through the correct speaker set.

The second place to check would be in Entourage preferences where the
sounds are enabled. Next to each sound is a speaker icon. Clicking each
will play the sound. If you don't hear the sound when clicking the icon
then something else is wrong.

I have no idea if this applies to Entourage 2008, but this post about
MIDI settings describes a problem many Entourage 2004 users had.

Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, I have tried those things and still no sounds play.

In fact, when I click on the Speaker icon (for the Entourage sounds) I don't even hear a sound then.

Something is fishy with this whole thing as the sounds used to work at one time and now don't work (even though I haven't changed any settings).

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

If you can hear sounds from other applications, but not the Entourage sounds
have a look at this Apple Knowledge Base article.

An application may have set your audio output settings too high. If that
fails and you have GarageBand, try opening and closing it.

I'm still waiting on a reply about the sound sets.
