Entourage very slow

Entourage (Office: Mac 2008) needs some seconds when changing from one
window to another. E.g.. changing from E-Mail to addresses or calendar and
vice versa.

I have some 1600 contacts in Entourage an some hundred mails.

What I tried:

- delete all attachments

- delete all E-Mails not needed

- repair (incl. compression) of Entourage and new start

Can anyone help?

Thank you in advance...

Are you on an Exchange account?
If yes, try keeping most of your e-mails in folders other than your
inbox. This folder gets sinched often and that puts quite a load on
Entourage.

Entourage (Office: Mac 2008) needs some seconds when changing from one
window to another. E.g.. changing from E-Mail to addresses or calendar and
vice versa.

Sometimes linking can cause slowdowns. For example in the Address Book: Once
it opens, click on the name column to re-sort your contacts. That should
cause Entourage to re-sort the list and speed things up.

Flagged items can cause slowdowns (flagged messages are now considered a
type of "to-do", by the way.) One user reports, At one point I had about
2000, and would get stuck for 5-6 minutes. I unflagged most of them, but I
still have a couple hundred, They now slow me down to about 30 seconds
switching to calendar and then flagging messages.

Hope this helps!

Dear Diane,

I think your suggestion is the solution of my problems - since re-sorting
contacts (there were no flagged items in my case) I have no further problems
until now!

Thank you so much for your help!

Yours,

Karl

Hi Corentin,

thank you for your good advice!

In my case there is no Exchange account and no mails in the inbox. I deleted
all the not needed ones anyhow, because there were way too much mails in
Entourage...

I guess the solution to my problem was re-sorting all the contacts, which I
really didn't do for weeks.

Thanking you again,

Yours,

Karl

Glad that worked. It really helps to get feedback so we know if our
suggestions work.
