envelope layout

Whenever I print an envelope, the initial setting shows
the address in the upper left hand corner, where the
return address is supposed to be. I have clicked "Omit
Return Address." But the default still has the addressee
in upper left. I have to click on envelopes, click
on "auto" for margins, and it works just fine. But it is
tedious to have to go through this every time I print an
envelope. Is there any way to make the "auto" settings
the default?

Thanks!

I can't figure out where you are clicking on "envelopes." Is this the tab in
the Envelopes & Labels dialog? You always want to make sure that you are on
this tab when using the wizard or you may end up printing labels on an
envelope.

Which version of Word are you using?

Looking at that dialog in Word 2003, I get to distance from margins by
clicking on the Options button.

Mine are set to auto by default.

Is this a problem with all templates or only one?

I don't know that the following will help but it may be educational. Take a
look in your template at the style Envelope Address.

Format => Styles => Envelope Address (in selection window) => Modify
(button)

Click on Format in that dialog and go to Frames. This gives you your current
setting.

If you don't get a better suggestion within the next week, you may want to
uninstall Word and then reinstall it. Don't do this before checking here for
other suggestions first because this is a drastic solution that may not
help.
