Envelope not showing as open when message read.

I'm having a bug with Outlook 2000.
When I open Outlook the Envelope icons for read messages
show as closed. (The subject is not bold). I have checked
and the emails belong to the IPM.Note Message class.

Has anyone run into the same problem and found a fix?
