Hi: a very strange problem! Are you printing from the Envelope & Label
Wizard? Have you tried the Add to Document function? If you add the envelope
to a document, does it still look Black - even in Print Preview? Does it
still print in scarlet?

My first thought is a printer driver corruption. Try checking with the
Printer support site to see that you have the latest driver available and
then delete and reinstall the printer.

Yes Using the envelope wizard, will try adding it to the document and
see what happens.
At present the print is showing as black in the wizard but prints
scarlet.
My first thought is a printer driver corruption. Try checking with the

Yes I will check that many thanks.
I will let you know the outcome.

Added the envelope to document preview which shows as black, but it
still prints in scarlet!

I Have been to the Lexmark website, downloaded and installed the latest
drivers for XP still no change?
Also checked the printer properties and found nothing untoward there.

Oh and yes, I have enough black ink (half full) as the letter prints in
black.

I still lean towards the printer driver here. If it looks black in Print
Preview, that's how it should print. All the parameters for PrintPreview are
taken from the information in the printer driver.

Would you like to save an addressed envelope to a document and then email it
me as an attachment to test?

Done that Terry, thanks for your time.

Nothing has arrived. I've had this problem before with my MSN mail account
too. I think the AV is overly sensitive and killing the email. Please try
sending to the following address (it should be easy to unscramble!)

Done that again thanks Terry.

Drat. That didn't work either. It didn't come as an attachment: just a long
email of garbage.

Do you have WinZip? If so, would you send it as a zipped attachment please.

Well I don't know where your emails are going wrong! This time I received
your mail as 2 separate items, one with the text and the other full of
garbage (obviously the zipped file as text!). Somewhere the attachments are
being stripped from your emails and I suspect that it must be your ISP. I
have no problems receiving attachments from other sources: in fact I
regularly send them to and from customers. I've emailed back to you.

I have been experiencing the same problem with my Lexmark X125 all-in-one and
Office Standard Word 2003 purchasing a new machine with WinXP. I too am
using the black setting for the printer and automatic in Word. Both of my
cartridges are new. When I print a label, it prints perfectly. When I print
an envelope, however, it prints in scarlet. Suggestions?

Ok, I found that my printer Lexmark Z605 takes the ink from the COLOUR
cartridge when printing an envelope (don't know about labels) and
although it was reporting I had a half full colour cartridge there was
no cyan ink left in it therefore it printed in scarlet.
I replaced the cartridge and all works well.

If both your cartridges are new it could be there is a problem with the
print heads on the colour cartridge.
