my previous post but the messages are not forms or if they
are something is happening to them on the particular
machines.Every e-mail in does the same thing. Envelope
stays closed after message has been read.

In order to verify that a particular message is not a
custom form, please add the "Message Class" field to your
view by right-clicking on a column and choosing
the "Field Chooser". From the Field Chooser, simply
drag/drop the Message Class field, which you can find in
the "All Mail Fields" subgroup.

If a message has class "IPM.Note" then it is the default
e-mail form. In this case, the icon should appear as
read/unread. If a message has
class "IPM.Note.Somethingelse", then it is a custom form,
and the icon may or may not change after the message is
read.

If a message with class "IPM.Note" still shows up with an
icon that won't 'open', then I don't know what the
problem is off the top of my head.

Also, if you are running an Outlook 2003 Beta, it is
likely that this is the reason why you are experiencing
this problem.
