envelopes, bar code label

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel When printing envelopes the bar code appears on the document. But when it prints out it is in code? Average user here, tried to toggle etc.
Any help would be appreciated,
