EPS images in Word 2008

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

When I upgraded my machine from Word 2004 to Word 2008 most of my EPS images are not correct. The image itself seems to be enlarged and you cannot even comprehend what that image is. The images were created in freehand and then edited with text in powerpoint. Then from powerpoint they were copied over to Word. I have Word 2004 installed on a 10.5 machine and it had the images correct but when I open them up in 2008 they are still wrong.

Hello Hermana;

Your EPS files are incorrect because they're not EPS files... Although they
may well have been when first inserted into PPt. You left them behind when
you copied from there to Word - you were not actually copying the EPS files,
themselves. EPS carries a low resolution preview image which is what
displays in the file when an EPS is inserted properly. What you really
copied was the low res display image which was converted by the clipboard
into a PICT file when pasted into Word (or any other type of file), which
looks OK in Word 2004. For several reasons, however, those permutations
won't translate very well into 2008 as you've witnessed.

What you might try is open the Word 2004 document in 2004,
Control/Right-Click the image, select Save As Picture to save in one of the
available formats. [Probably jpeg or png, but you may have to experiment
with several formats to determine which is best based on the composition of
the image.] Then insert the new images into the 2008 doc using Insert>
Picture> From File in place of the former images... Unless you do still have
the original .eps files themselves, in which case you can insert them using
this same technique & add your text using text boxes or shapes.
