Equation Editor 3.0 character mis-mapping

M

Mike Garceau

When I prepare and equation in the editor, it mis-maps
some characters when it returns to the original Word
document. Specifically:

minus (-), unicode 002D, mismaps to webdings 45, some
kind of ribbon symbol

equals (=), unicode 003D, mismaps to webdings 61, a
filled octagon

plus (+), unicode 002B, mismaps to webdings 43, a
lightning bolt set within a filled starburst

Any ideas how I fix this? I assume it involves some
Registry manipulation

Thanks.

Mike, those are the same Unicode codepoints. IOW, a Unicode 002D
is a minus in Symbol font, but a ribbon in Webdings font, etc.
Let's start with the obvious solution. With Equation Editor open,
click on the Style menu and select Define. Make sure Symbol font
is selected for Symbol style.
