Equations messed up?

Hello,

My Stats teachers provided us with the powerpoint slides, but when I open
them the equations are really weird. The font looks like wingdings, I have
tried many things and it doesn't work. Btw, neither in Word when he gives us
a word document. Has anybody had similar experiences and found a solution?

Marcus,

go to Format - Replace font. Open the top list box. If you see font names
with a "?", those are missing on your computer. You'll have to install them
to display them. And I think, one of those missing is a special one for
equations.

Kind regards,
Ute

Ok, I have found that now. The "Symbols" font is missing. Where could I find
that font in order to install it? And any suggestions for the similar problem
in word? There I get a field with gray background and the word error! instead
of equations.

Thx,

Marcus

I had to reinstall the font. I deleted it and put it back in (download from
somewhere, same name and all, but now it works). But what about my word-
probblem. It works partially now that powerpoint shows the formulae, but on
some it still gives me error, and when I right-click and use "toggle field",
I get s.th. like: {EQ \F(1,(1+i) ...

Any suggestions on how that works? I already tried the suggestion I found
somewhere else with the Symbol, U.C. Greek and all setting to symbol, but as
I said, it doesn't seem to work for all of the formulae.
