Equations turned into pictures!?

E

Eric

Every time I re-open a document I am working on with
lots of equations (made in Equation Editor 3), the
equations have been turned into damned pictures, so I can't
edit them! If I right click and choose 'Edit Picture' it
turns it into a bunch of different text boxes, each of
which contains one character in the equation!

What the hell is happening?!!?!?!?

Help?

Thanks
Eric

Hi, Eric. This can occur if Word crashes while you are editing a document
and Word autorecovers the document. In the autorecovery process, Word loses
the OLE information for the equation object, which converts the object to a
picture. Does this sound like something that has happened with your document?

Hi,

I have the opposite query - I would like to save existing
equation editor items as image files, preferably JPEG or
BMP. Is this possible? Or do I have to crash my machine?

Thanks, Phil.

Hi, Phil. Instead of crashing your machine, it might be easier to select the
equation object and then press Ctrl+Shift+F9 to convert it to a picture. You
can copy and paste the picture into Microsoft Photo Editor and save it as a
..jpg or .bmp file from there.

Yes, indeed. I was saving it and Word crashed, and then the
picture conversion was done. SO in a sense I am lucky the
equations weren't completely lost.

You guys rock.

Best,
Eric
