Equipment loan (check-in/out) form

I'm a college professor (Advertising), but not an Excel programmer.

I'd like to set up a simple Excel spreadsheet to check in and ou
digital video cameras. Cells should contain the students name, I
number, camera serial number, check-out date, check-in date, day
overdue, etc.

Students names and camera serials would be in a drop down list. I'
like info in the remaining cells to populate automatically based on th
students name and camera serial. Is it possible to get both check-i
and out dates to drop in automatically as soon as a new entry begin
(24 hour time limit on all loans)?

Is this do-able? Has someone already done it?

this sound like a combination of
- listboxes created with 'Data - Validation'
- getting the corresponding data with VLOOKUP
