error 0x80040601

I can not send messages in outlook. I can receive ok. I have sent myself
e-mails from outlook express so I know my sever is ok. If I use send receive
it says that the task is complete but the message is still in the outbox. if
I open the message in outbox and then send I get this error
message(0x80040601). I am using office 2000. I have uninstalled and re
installed first outlook and the office no luck. Same thing. Any help would
be great.
