Error 1402 problems ...

I have four XP Professional machines that I maintain that are having the same
problem. Office XP runs fine, but I cannot update them with SP3, the
installation fails. I have tried to go in and uninstall Office to do a
reinstall to see if that would work and get the following message:

Error 1402. Setup cannot open the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\Migration
DLLs. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or
contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. For
information about how to contact PSS, see C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office10\1033\PSS10R.CHM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
