I was having difficulty getting MDI files to work or even to change
PowerPoint to open file externsion ppt for some reason. I am using Vista as
my OS. I was getting error 1406 even though i am only user on laptop. So I
deinstalled then tried to reinstall and still getting 1406. Now what? This
is my only PC and I need it urgently!!! Help please!

I ignored this because they mentioned Office 2003 or XP. Is this help also
for Vista and Office 2007? I have tried option 4 to no avail. Which do you
suggest?

If you look at the Applies to at the bottom of the article, it does apply to
Office 2007. It is a permission issue according to the article. I'd ask about
the registry keys in a Vista newsgroup to get some guidance.
