Error 1608

I recently reformatted my hard drive and am now trying to get the software
back on. I have Works Suite 2002 (Works v 6.0) sucessfully loaded and now I'm
trying to load Office 2000 Premium. I get Error 1608 after I enter the
product key. I tried putting the Works Suite CD in one drive and the Office
2000 in the other, and reference the Works CD when told I have no qualifying
product. Doesn't work. Help!

exist when Office 2000 was released, so it is not a qualifying product
for upgrade.

So I can't use Office 2000 at all, or do I just need to pay for technical
support? The Microsoft webite indicates Works "Version 3.0 or later".

No, you would need to acquire a copy of the qualifying software. Works
"Version 3.0 or later" with the requirement that it PREdate Office 2000,
since Office can't recognize something produced After it was produced.

The "or later" in the list refer to versions that pre-date Office 2000.
The first time you installed the Office 2000 upgrade, you probably
used something other than Works Suite 2002 as a qualifying product, so
you could use the same thing again, or call Microsoft and pay for tech
support.
