Error 1612

I am unable to run a "Repair" or check for updates for my Office 2003
applications...each time I receive the message "installation source for this
product is unavailable". I have checked my MS Office log and it states "The
installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the
source exists and that you can access it. C:\WINDOWS\Installer\8d9a29.msi.
Such files do exist in the proper locations and my MSOCache is also in tact
and in place.

Somehow I seem to think that the cache is not locating the proper file(s).
Can anyone solve this problem?
