Error 1706

V

Vicky

Everytime I try to open a new message in Outlook 2003 I get the following
message.
Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business - Error 1706 No valid source cold be
found for the product Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business. The windows
installer cannot continue.

I would be willing to uninstall Office 2000 if you think that would fix the
problem. I am just afraid it will cause more problems.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Office:mac 2004 for Student and Teacher Ed has no math fonts, and no Equation
Editor. Can I download it? Can I purchase it? What can I do? I am a math
teacher and Word is useless to me without it....

What has this got to do with the Error 1706 post?
Perhaps visit the Office Mac site & see whats available, or post to an
Office Mac group

There is an Office for Mac newsgroup. Try using a newsreader such as OE or
Windows Mail. If you are using a Mac for the newsgroups, try searching
Google Groups. The MS interface leaves a lot to be desired.

Hijacking occurs when noobies to newsgroups don't know how to start a new
thread.

No responses happen when the people who could help you aren't reading the
newsgroup or when those who do read don't have the answer.

hi Vicky,

Error 1706 is often the MS Installer telling you it can't find the original installation source/CD that was used for Office 2000.
If you have the CD you may want to try it, but you may need to do a repair/reinstall of Office 2000 from add/remove programs in the
Windows control panel, restart the PC then do the same for the 2003 edition.

It can also be that what MS calls the 'MSOCache' folder for Office 2003 has become corrupted from the mixed version install and
that one gets a bit more involved (time wise) in resolving.

Thank you for responding to both of our concerns. I clicked on "New Thread"
repeatedly and could never get it to respond, finally gave up and put
question in "Reply". But thank you for responding to both of us!
