Error 1722 in Word, Office XP

I have a PC on a Novell 6.0 Network using Win98SE, Office
XP, SP3. I am getting an error "1722", (in word and
excel) "There is a problem with this windows installer
package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish
as expected. Contact support personell." I click on on
this and then get...

"Run setup, select repair and restore application."

I have tried this and about every potential fix I could
think of and researched as much I could and I am still
getting nowhere.

I am absolutely lost on what to do next, any help would be
greatly appreciated...
